Open Show - 6/5/2012
Unfortunately our show had to be cancelled this year due to the ground being waterlogged. We did re-schedule another smaller show for the bank holiday Sunday in August which was hugely successfuly. We held KCGC special beginner class, pre-beginner and beginner classes only. Everyone had a super day and we have decided that as it was so popular, we would do it again in 2013. As the KCGC Special pre beginner class will be held at our May show, the August show will hold pre-beginner, beginner and novice classes only. A big thank you to Carol and Clare for all their hard work in notifying everyone that the May show had been cancelled, and thanks to everyone who helped with the August show. Charity Donations
Many of our members may not realise that each year Chesvale Dog Training Club donates a large sum of money to charity. Last year we donated five thousand pounds for a diabetic assistance puppy which has been named Chess. Chess is an Affenpincher, and will be coming to the club on Thursday 6th October so do come and say hello. So far this year we have donated one hundred pounds to St Leonards Parish Hall and Playing Fields as a thank you for using this venue for our Open Show, one hundred and twenty pounds to St John\'s Ambulance in memory of Jan Stewart and a further two hundred pounds has been allocated for a dog charity which has yet to be decided. All the above were the profits made at our Open Show and training ring. Carol Spencer organises a dog show at Abbots Langley Carnival and this year the proceeds went to: National Animal Welfare Trust seven hundred and five pounds, Dogs in Need seventy five pounds. Well done to everyone who helped or took part in these events, and a special thank you to Carol for organising them and keeping us all on our toes. An amazing achievement.

Nick Ridley Photographic Evenings
The first evening was so successful that we managed to fill another evening of wonderful dogs doing what they do best - looking beautiful and running around! All those who had their dogs pictures taken were more than delighted with the results, even those of you who doubted Nick would be able to get a decent shot of their dog. Oh ye of little faith! Thank you to Clare for letting us invade her field again for this event and also for helping me out holding onto dogs while their owners legged it across the field to get the action shots. It was interesting trying to hold 3 lively black labs who were more interested in grabbing each other than getting to their mum! My back had just about given up by the end of the second evening but I have never laughed so much looking at some of the shots which took all the pain away. In no particular order, my favourites were: Ruby, the flatcoat whose ears looked like a nuns wimple as she went over the jump; Toddy, who managed to have a picture taken while demolishing the jump totally; Muttley, who had a shot taken jumping straight up in the air and with all that hair it was difficult to work out where the dog was; Leo who managed to have a photograph taken with not one tennis ball in his mouth but TWO, one behind the other. I hope you all enjoyed having the pictures taken. You can view all the phtographs taken on the evening by going to nickridley.com. Click on view your event here which will be Chesvale 1 or Chesvale 2, where you can order more prints or any of the other goods - ideal for Christmas presents. Carol Spencer

Abbots Langley Carnival - Companion Dog Show and Display
The weather gods were certainly kind to us, perfect for the Carnival and Dog Show. Thank you once again for a great effort in making this the biggest and probably the best companion show we have run. The entries were huge and we took over 800 pounds on the day! A fantastic result, with 75 pounds going to Dogs In Need and the remainder (after expenses) to The National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford. The judges certainly earned their wages (a free lunch), with the classes almost overflowing from the ring. Gary Gregory judged the Breed Classes and was very professional in his approach. Jackie De Friez (Centre Manager at the NAWT) judged the Novelty classes and was particularly encouraging to all the entrants and certainly kept the huge classes moving. Everyone seemed to go home happy although there are always a few who think that their dog was definitely the most handsome or the prettiest. The Junior Display Team were very trendy with their heelwork to music display, using Take Thats new single Love, Love. They were in perfect time with the music and each other and all finished in the right place at the end! Sue Monk with Tipsy and Eileen Marsden with Rosie followed on with a super display of competitive obedience covering all of the advanced exercises. All looked very professional and were great ambassadors for the Club. Special thanks go to the following for going that extra mile to help: Clare Williams, Junior Display Team Dance Instructor; Jim & Gail Nokes, Erection Party; Sue Monk, In-House Catering; Bernadette Thornton, Entry Supervision; Maggie Moran, Money Taker; Jo Spencer, Equipment Supplier; Lyn Hopkinson, General Dogsbody. Huge thanks to all those who gave up their day to take part in the Discover Dogs Exhibit, Junior and Senior Display Teams. Discover Dogs Jo Spencer with Rupert,Shetland Sheepdog; Maggie Petit with Maizie/Tilly, Shetland Sheepdogs; Jane Byard with Fern, Golden Retriever; Eileen Marsden with Rosie/Buffy; Golden Retrievers; Pauline Finn with Jess/Nancy/George/Arnold, Black Labradors; Stephanie Mayne with Dolly/Betty, Black Labradors; Judy Swan with Misty/Ragnar , GSD Jo Dyas with Josh/Robbie/Moss, Border Collies; Marion Houghton with Rummy, Keeshund Lyn Hopkinson with Ruby, Flatcoat Retriever Senior Display Team Eileen Marsden with Rosie, Golden Retriever and Sue Monk with Tipsy, Crossbreed Junior Display Team Clare with Heidi, Staffie Cross; Stephanie with Betty, Labrador; Julie with Jess,Shetland Sheepdog; Paul with Tilly, Labrador; Maggie with Maisie ,Shetland Sheepdog; Pauline with Nancy , Labrador; Jane with Fern, Golden Retriever; Carol with Muttley, Crossbreed; Gail with Sybil, Labrador; Joan with Ivy, Golden Retriever; Lyn with Ruby, Flatcoat Retriever; Judy with Ragnar,GSD; Ken with Emma, Labrador; Jo with Josh, Border Collie; Wendy with Molly, Cocker Spaniel; Livvi with Leo, Border Collie We again challenged Watford Agility to a relay race over jumps and through a tunnel. Unfortunately it became clear very early on that we had not practiced since last years challenge. One of our members didnt know what a relay race was (no names but she is Scottish!). Another dog decided to ignore the jumps and visit the crowd to socialise with the children eating ice creams (no names but she was black with a flat coat!) What can I say, we came 3rd out of 3. Next year we really must try harder, although it would not be as entertaining. Well done to everyone for all your time and effort to make it such a fantastic and rewarding day. Carol Spencer
