Chesvale Events

Companion Dog Show
The club members help run the annual Companion Dog Show at the Abbots Langley Carnival on the second Saturday in June every year. In addition to the dog show Chesvale also supply all the doggy entertainment at the Carnival with their Demonstration Teams

Demonstration Teams
Chesvale has an extremely enthusiastic group of pet owners who represent the Club as our Junior Display Team at local charity events. Each year they learn a new heelwork to music routine to entertain the crowds and also partake in a small Discover Dogs exhibit where members of the public can meet the dogs in the display, discuss their dogs achievements and also the pros and cons of owning their particular breed. The Senior Display Team is made up of dogs and handlers who compete each week at Open Obedience Shows around the country. Their display is to demonstrate the high level of accuracy and obedience required to compete at this level.

Chiltern Junior Obedience League
Chesvale belongs to the Chiltern Junior Obedience League competing against four other clubs in the local area throughout the year. The classes include starter, pre-beginners, beginners and novice with three dogs in each class. This is an ideal opportunity for new members to be introduced to the world of competitive obedience at club level. The evenings are very social events, with a buffet supper (for the handlers!) and the team has enormous support from the membership. The Chesvale match dates for 2012 are: Friday 23 March Chesvale v Aylesbury; Monday 23 April Oxhey v Chesvale; Thursday 14 June Gade v Chesvale; SUMMER BREAK, Friday 14 September Chesvale v Oxhey; Monday 1 October Aylesbury v Chesvale; Friday 16 November Chesvale v Gade.

Trophies
The Club has numerous trophies which are presented annually. Many have been donated by members in memory of their beloved dogs which are no longer with us.

Chesvale Open Obedience Show
Each year, on the first May Bank Holiday Sunday, Chesvale organise and run an open obedience show. This is held at St Leonards Playing Fields and attracts around 450 entries each year. The classes are from Pre-Beginners to class B, dog and bitch combined, together with the KC Special Pre-Beginner class.

Kennel Club Good Citizens Tests
The Club holds regular tests of the Kennel Club Good Citizens Awards at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Training in the pet classes covers all the elements needed to pass the Bronze test and members are encouraged to continue their training to the higher standards required for the Silver and Gold awards.
